This past week, I was taken completely by surprise..... for some reason, the number of job requ's coming into my firm reached the highest level in 2 years! Could it be that we are finally seeing that uptick we have been waiting for, oh so patiently? At any rate, I was, shamefully, unprepared and understaffed for the event.
Being a boutique firm, I pride myself on the individual service that I can offer my customers. This, in many cases, equates to specialty job orders that are highly involved and difficult to recruit. With a greater number of requirements coming in, I felt that I could not quite offer that level of service. Yes, I suddenly wished I hadn't put off hiring that additional recruiter that I now desperately needed. I broke one of my own rules.....keeping a list of good and available recruiters at the ready.
So far, albeit a little "egg on my face", I managed to tuff my way through the week working additional hours to get the job done; and will continue to do so through this Holiday weekend. However, I never wish to be unprepared again.....lesson learned! Keep that list ready folks, and never stop recruiting!
