It's that time of year......I call it crunch time. There is so much to do from purchasing and wrapping gifts, holiday cards, family gatherings, work gatherings, year end accounting and budget planning, just to name a few. It's no wonder people are stressed to the maximum!
I myself am baffled at the amount of things that I need to accomplish before the year end. While putting a particular post on Facebook to say just that, I had an epiphany - am I really being efficient with my time? As I pondered that statement, it was an emphatic NO! My decision came in part to the fact that I was on Facebook, when I could have been doing something much more productive than commenting on people's posts, and accepting and sending fake gifts from a particular Zynga application - rather than purchasing the REAL gifts I needed for Christmas.
Isn't it crazy how much time we spend on social networking sites, text messaging, playing with worthless apps, checking emails, reading ecards and the like? Would that time be better spent actually DOING something? I believe so. Soon after that post, I called my friend and made a date for coffee and shopping. Ok, it wasn't a call, it was a text, but you get the picture. I am taking a day off of work on Friday, and I will be productive by nourishing my relationship with my friend and shopping for REAL gifts that I need to give. Oh yeah, and my day off will include a day off from Facebook, Twitter, and reading mindless emails (press delete). Then Monday, I will avoid these same temptations and tackle the year-end accounting!
